Seasonal Assistant

(2 x Part Time – 24 hours per week – including weekends)

Temporary contract for 3 months

We are currently looking for 2 x Seasonal Assistants to join our large Garden Centre Group. As an integral part of the team you will work in our Giftware department.  The successful candidates should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role. Experience in retail is desirable to the role as is good customer service, however, full training will be provided where necessary.

Duties include:

Pricing, displaying & merchandising a variety of products
Assisting customers with their purchases
Till operation
Cash handling
Customer service
General housekeeping

Requirements of the role:

Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team

Chef / Cook

(Full Time – 38 hours per week – including weekends – no evening work)

We are looking for a  Chef / Cook who has a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. This is a very hands on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast paced environment. Experience in a similar role in a similar environment is essential. A good working knowledge of till systems is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Please note you will need to be flexible as you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays but no evening work is required.

Duties include:

Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently to a high standard
Work safely around the kitchen equipment
Maintain accurate food ordering and stock levels
Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and waste

Skills needed:

Experience of working in a busy commercial kitchen
Excellent communication skills
Able to work as part of a team or on own initiative
Creative at making dishes but also able to work to specs
Baking cakes and other home bakes would be an advantage
Knowledge of HACCP
Able to manage multiple orders
Professional and reliable
Remain calm under pressure
Good time management
Level 2 basic food hygiene

Job Type:

Meat Carver

(Full Time – 40 hours per week – including weekends)

We are looking for a person with a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. This is a very hands-on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised, have high standards of cleaning, and be result driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a similar role in a similar environment is essential.

Duties include:

Responsible for the carvery (preparation/cleaning)
Carving meat to order for roast dinners
Keep the Bain Marie clean and tidy during and after service
Complete required paperwork for food safety
Maintain high standards of presentation
Keeping your Prep area hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and wastage
Customer service

Garden Centre Manager

(Full Time - 40 hours per week - including weekends)

We are looking for a professional, hands on Garden Centre Manager with commercial vision and an ability to lead, develop and inspire the team.  Working in a Garden Centre in the Horncastle and Louth area, this is a high volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role. A knowledge of plants would be preferred but is not essential to the role, however, excellent customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising is required as is previous management experience.

Duties include:

Achieving operational excellence and managing the financial performance of your Centre.

Ensuring the highest standards of display, compliance and inventory control are maintained.
Supporting Department Managers to ensure that they receive clear direction and performance management within a culture of coaching and mentoring.
Accountable for providing great customer service and have a keen eye for detail around the consumer’s experience in your Centre.
Maintaining and monitoring Health & Safety in accordance with all statutory, legal and company policies.

Skills required:

Commercial and results driven with a proven track record in a managerial position.
Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager.
A solution orientated thinker with excellent problem solving skills.
The ability to work to tight time scales.
Computer literate.
Good merchandiser with a flair for great displays.

Job Type:

The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work weekends and bank holidays as required.  Please note some heavy lifting may be involved with this role.

Plant Manager

(Full Time – 40 hours per week - including weekends)

We are looking for a Plant Manager to join our forward-thinking team. Working in the plant area is a high-volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands-on role. A good knowledge of plants is essential to the role as is good customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising.

The successful candidate will possess either a horticultural qualification, will be in training or had practical horticultural experience.

Duties include:

Actively working in the daily horticultural tasks of the Centre.
Assisting the Centre Manager to maximise sales and profit by ensuring the efficient and effective management to Company standards, of the commerciality, merchandising, replenishment, and housekeeping across the Garden Centre.
Establish and maintain high horticultural and retail standards.
Manage and support overall plant health within the Centre.
Lead and motivate the staff in their team.
Manage stock control of the department.
Support Centre Manager in daily H&S tasks and paperwork, ensuring Health & Safety standards are always adhered to and maintained.
Generate ideas and assist in the development of even better methods of working within the department.
Help to achieve a high standard of customer service.
Assist with complaints and queries from staff and customers.
Assist where needed with the recruitment, training, development, and individual performance of staff within the Centre to a high standard.
Carry out additional duties as and when required such as managing store and to attend events in the absence of the Centre Manger.
Assist when needed to plan and manage key events such as Christmas, Bank Holidays and Season Centre change effectively and efficiently.

Kitchen Porter

(Part Time – 24 hours per week – including weekends)

We are currently looking for a Kitchen Porter to join a busy Restaurant in our large Garden Centre group.  This is a very hands on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast paced environment.  Experience in a similar position is beneficial, however we are looking for somebody who is hard working and committed.

Please note that you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.

Duties include:

Ensure basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible.
Collect and wash up pots and pans.
Clean food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery.
Unload food and equipment deliveries.
Keep the storeroom organised.
Keep work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised.

Plant Despatcher/Nursery Worker

(Full Time – 40 hours per week - occasional weekends)

We are currently looking for a Plant Despatcher/Nursery Worker to work at our plant production Nursery. You will be highly motivated, approachable and have excellent people skills with a positive “can do” attitude, plus a keen eye for detail.

The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands-on role and you will be moving around all areas of the nursery preparing and despatching stock. This is a year round role so you will be working inside and out in all weathers – good and bad!

Knowledge of garden/house plants would be an advantage and retail experience is preferable.  You will be working Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working to cover holidays and peak trading. A basic understanding of computers is required – training will be given on software used.

Duties will include:

Loading/unloading lorries
Preparing plants for despatch
Processing transfers of stock
Preparing & printing despatch notes
General housekeeping and plant care
