Santa’s Elves

(Full Time & Part Time roles available)

Temporary Christmas Contracts

 We are currently looking for Elves to help Santa this Christmas at Hornsea Garden Centre’s renowned grotto! The Grotto Experience is designed to be a magical experience for children so as an Elf it is essential that you are of a cheery disposition and great at entertaining groups of children.

Experience would be preferred.

Weekday and weekend positions are available.

Elf Requirements:

You will have superb customer service skills

Acting or entertainment skills would also be advantageous

You will be responsible for handling money

Able to work under pressure

Kitchen Manager

(Full Time – 40 hours per week – working weekends)

We are looking for a Kitchen Manager with both a passion for creating excellent food and the organisational skills to successfully run a busy kitchen. You must be enthusiastic and wish to proactively develop the growing business. This is a hands-on role where teamwork and communication are vital as you will be in charge of a small team.

As Kitchen Manager you must be highly organised, results driven and have excellent overall kitchen management competencies.

You will be required to work weekends and bank holidays but benefits from no split shifts or evening work.

Duties include:

Stock rotation and placing orders with suppliers
Managing the team & planning staff rotas
Duty Manager in Restaurant Manager’s absence
Food Hygiene
Menu creation and planning
Costing and maintaining the company food GP
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and adhering to our strict company policy

Skills required:

Level 3 Basic Food Hygiene
Thorough understanding of allergens and food safety
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Baking skills would be an advantage
Knowledge of carvery
Vast knowledge of HACCP essential
Professionalism and reliability
Remain calm under pressure
Good time management

Chef's

 (Full Time & Part Time – 30-40 hours per week – including weekends)

We are looking for 2 people with a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. This is a very hands-on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a similar role in a similar environment is essential. A good working knowledge of till systems is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Duties include:

Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently to a high standard
Work safely around the kitchen equipment
Maintain accurate food ordering and stock levels
Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and waste

Skills needed:

Experience of working in a kitchen
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Creative at making dishes but also able to work to specs
Baking cakes and other home bakes would be an advantage
Knowledge of HACCP
Able to manage multiple orders
Professionalism and reliability
Remains calm under pressure
God time management
Level 2 basic food hygiene

Job Type:

The successful candidate must be able to cover shifts and be able to adapt to both kitchen and front of house when needed.  As a family run business, we understand the importance of work/ life balance so our working hours for cooks mean no evening work or split shifts are required.

Front of House Assistant

(Full Time - 30 hours per week – including weekends)

We are looking for Front of House Assistants who have a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry.  This is a very hands on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast paced environment.

A good working knowledge of till systems is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

You will need be fully flexible as will involve weekend and bank holiday working.

Waiting tables

Till operation
Clearing and cleaning duties

EPOS Support

(Part Time - 30 hours per week – Based at Hornsea Garden Centre)

As British Garden Centres are currently going through a period of sustained growth a fantastic career opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced EPOS Support candidate to join our large Garden Centre group to help take our business to the next level.  As an integral part of the team, you will help to drive the business forward through our EPOS system.

Providing support to the EPOS Manager as we enter this exciting new phase within the business, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills as you work on a variety of projects.

You will report directly to the EPOS Manager assisting in the day-to-day duties of managing a busy EPOS system at British Garden Centres. The ideal candidate will work Tuesday – Saturday, 6 hours/day.

Duties include:

Data input/integrity checks.
Report analysis.
Stock taking.
Support for the data inputters at all the stores assisting with their problems and queries both on hardware and software.
Travel to other garden centres when required to provide training and support (including overnight stays).

Skills required:

Experience of working in a stock management EPOS role ideally within a large retail environment with several stores.
The ability to work independently on tasks assigned to a high standard.
You will be analytical, a problem solver and have great investigative skills.
You will have a right first-time approach and a can-do attitude.
You will be computer literate with a good knowledge of Excel.
General IT knowledge.
Experience of working with stock control databases would be advantageous.
Full, clean driving license required for travelling.
