About British Garden Centres
British Garden Centres (BGC) is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group and second-largest garden centre group in the UK with 60 centres around the country. The group is owned by The Stubbs family, who also own and operate Woodthorpe Leisure Park.
BGC was launched in 1987 with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre by brothers Charles and Robert Stubbs and has expanded rapidly ever since. In March 2022 the group opened their 60th location, Lytham St Annes Garden Centres in Blackpool.
In 2018 the group only owned 10 centres and three years later there are 59 British Garden Centre destinations in the country.

This week British Garden Centres launched their new logo and, as we head into spring, the centres across the group will be proudly displaying this new logo – a lovely red butterfly.

The Greenfingers Charity has confirmed that it will be exhibiting at the forthcoming RHS Chelsea Flower Show (May 24th – 28th) thanks to British Garden Centres.

The Stubbs Family Dynasty
Charles and Robert Stubbs are the directors and owners of The British Garden Centres Group, which has 60 garden centres in the UK. The brothers have been in the gardening business since the 1970s, but their roots in horticulture and agriculture in the Lincolnshire Wolds go back much further.
Woodborough Green Garden Centre becomes our 59th centre
The team at British Garden Centres (BGC) are delighted to announce the arrival of the group's 59th garden centre. Timmermans Garden Centre of Woodborough, Nottingham, and team, joined the BGC family on Monday 14th February 2022. As with all the centres in the group, this centre will also carry a local name so will be renamed Woodborough Green Garden Centre.

A year of success for British Garden Centres
2021 was a fantastic year for the British Garden Centres group, with millions of people across the country continuing to develop their newfound passion for gardening since lockdown 1. The industry truly thrived and so did the family-led group. Some incredible sales numbers came out of 2021, even with the restaurants being closed for five months.
British Garden Centres multi-million-pound investment
British Garden Centres is growing at a rapid rate, and as of March 2022, they have 60 garden centres in the family-led group. Since 2018, British Garden Centres has acquired 50 garden centres across the country, making the group the second-largest garden centre group in Britain.
Woodthorpe Leisure Park win exclusive awards in 2021
Woodthorpe Leisure Park, based in Lincolnshire, has won the prestigious Hoseasons Diamond Award and the Relax & Explore Award for the East of England 2021. This past year has been a triumphant success for the leisure park and these awards are a testament to that.
British Garden Centres donates £25,000 in gifts to children’s hospices
This Christmas British Garden Centres launched a new initiative to raise money and deliver incredibly large Christmas packages to children’s hospices in the UK. The carefully curated collection of items will bring the hospice gardens to life through the winter and beyond.
British Isle grown Christmas trees at British Garden Centres
As the festive season is nearing, it is time to think about your Christmas Tree. By the end of November, all British Garden Centres will have a wide variety of incredible freshly cut Christmas trees, which have all been grown in the British Isles.
