Kitchen Supervisor

(Full Time – 40 hours per week - including weekends)

We are looking for a Kitchen Supervisor with both a passion for creating excellent food and the organisational skills to successfully run a busy kitchen. You must be enthusiastic and wish to proactively develop the growing business. Previous experience of working in a kitchen is essential. This is a hands-on role where teamwork and communication are vital.

You will be required to work weekends and bank holidays but benefits from no split shifts or evening work.

Duties include:

Stock rotation and ordering
Leading team in absence of Kitchen Manager
Food Hygiene
Menu creation and planning
Home baking
Carvery preparation and service
Planning rotas
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and adhering to our strict company policy

Skills required:

Level 2 Basic Food Hygiene
Experience of baking
Thorough understanding of allergens and food safety
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Knowledge of HACCP
Professionalism and reliability
Remain calm under pressure
Good time management
Basic computer skills

Plant Supervisor

(Full Time – 40 hours per week - including alternate weekends)

We are currently seeking a candidate to join our horticultural team at Roxton Garden Centre.

Working in the plant area this is a high-volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands-on role and some heavy lifting may be required. A good knowledge of plants is essential to the role as is good customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising.

Knowledge and experience of plants/horticulture is essential to the role.

Main Duties:

Managing a team of staff
Plant maintenance and care
Pricing, displaying & merchandising a variety of products
Giving guidance and advice to customers with their purchases
Adhering to company policies.
Quality customer service
General daily housekeeping

Skills required:

Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Work well under pressure
Professionalism and reliability
Good time management
Excellent customer service skills
Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a drive to succeed
Able to work using own initiative
Flexible working hours to meet the business needs.

Trainee Cook

(Part Time – 25 hours per week – including weekends)

Great opportunity for an upcoming Cook to learn about the full workings of a kitchen.

We are looking for a person with a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. This is a very hands-on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include:

Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently to a high standard
Work safely around the kitchen equipment
Maintain accurate food ordering and stock levels
Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and waste

Skills needed:

No experience necessary as full training will be given
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Must be able to work under pressure with a “can do” attitude
Professionalism and reliability
Good time management
An understanding of food health & safety would be an advantage but not essential as in house training will be completed

Job Type:

The successful candidate must be able to cover shifts and be able to adapt to both kitchen and front of house when needed.  As a family run business, we understand the importance of work/ life balance so our working hours for cooks mean no evening work or split shifts are required.
