Assistant Restaurant Manager

Full Time – 39 hours per week – including weekends

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager with both a passion for creating excellent food and the organisational skills to successfully run a busy restaurant and kitchen. The successful candidate will be both a positive and creative individual, who has a passion and an ability for creating good food and promoting excellent customer service. You must be enthusiastic and wish to pro-actively develop the business. This is a hands-on role where teamwork and communication are vital.

As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, you must be highly organised, results driven and have excellent overall front of house and kitchen management competencies.

Duties Include:

Manage team of staff
Staff Rotas
Stock rotation and ordering
Food Hygiene
Menu planning
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and adhering to our strict company policy
Maintain excellent standards of guest service.
Maintain and monitor the highest standards of hygiene and Health & Safety in accordance with all statutory, legal and company requirements.

Requirements of the Role:

Level 2 basic food hygiene
Thorough understanding of allergens and food safety
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Strong IT & communication skills
Solid leadership qualities with an ability to engage with a large team to drive service and standards
Knowledge of HACCP
Professionalism and reliability
Remains calm under pressure
Good time management

Front of House Assistant

(2 X Part Time – 15 hours per week – including weekends)

Temporary 16 Weeks

We are looking for 2 x Front of House Assistants who have a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry.  This is a very hands on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast paced environment.

Previous experience in a similar role in a similar environment would be an advantage. Also, a good working knowledge of till systems is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

You will need be fully flexible as this will involve weekend and bank holiday working.

Duties include:

Waiting tables
Taking customer orders
Serving food
Making hot drinks
Till operation
Clearing and cleaning duties
Adhering to company policies

Skills required:

Excellent customer service skills
Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Plant Assistants

(2 X Part Time – 20 hours per week - including weekends)

We are currently seeking two Plant Assistant to join our horticulture team at Tring Garden Centre.

Working in the plant area this is a high volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidates should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role and some heavy lifting may be required. A good knowledge of plants is preferred for the role but not essential.

Main Duties:

 Plant maintenance and care

Plant watering
Helping customers with their purchases including giving advice
Pricing, displaying & merchandising of a variety of products
Quality customer service.
General daily housekeeping

Requirements of the Role:

 Must be fully flexible and able to work weekends and in differing weather conditions

You will have a right first-time approach and a can-do attitude
Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Work well under pressure
Professionalism and reliability

 (Full Time – 30 hours per week – including weekends)

We are looking for a person with a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently to a high standard
Work safely around the kitchen equipment
Maintain accurate food ordering and stock levels
Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and waste

Skills needed:

Experience of working in a kitchen
Thorough understanding of allergens and food safety
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Creative at making dishes but also able to work to specs
Baking cakes and other home bakes would be an advantage
Knowledge of HACCP
Able to manage multiple orders
Professionalism and reliability
Remains calm under pressure
Good time management
Level 2 basic food hygiene

Job Type:

The successful candidate must be able to cover shifts and be able to adapt to both kitchen and front of house when needed.  As a family run business we understand the importance of work/ life balance so our working hours for cooks mean no evening work or split shifts are required.
