Cook

 (Full Time – 40 hours per week – including weekends)

We are looking for a person with a passion and flair for the restaurant and catering industry. This is a very hands on role and as such you will need to be proactive, highly motivated, organised and results driven with good communication skills. You will be working as part of a team in a fast paced environment. Experience in a similar role in a similar environment is essential. A good working knowledge of till systems is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Duties include:

Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently to a high standard
Work safely around the kitchen equipment
Maintain accurate food ordering and stock levels
Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy at all times
Monitor portion size and waste

Skills needed:

Experience of working in a kitchen
Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a team
Creative at making dishes but also able to work to specs
Baking cakes and other home bakes would be an advantage
Knowledge of HACCP
Able to manage multiple orders
Professionalism and reliability
Remains calm under pressure
Good time management
Level 2 basic food hygiene

Job Type:

The successful candidate must be able to cover shifts and be able to adapt to both kitchen and front of house when needed.  As a family run business we understand the importance of work/ life balance so our working hours for cooks mean no evening work or split shifts are required.

Assistant Garden Centre Manager

(Full Time – 40 hours per week - including weekends)

We are looking for an Assistant Garden Centre Manager to join our forward thinking team.  Working in the Garden Centre this is a high volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should have proven managerial experience and be physically fit as this is a very hands on role and some heavy lifting may be required. A knowledge of plants would be a “nice to have” but is not essential to the role, however, excellent customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising is required as is previous retail management experience.

Duties include:

Customer service.
Shop Floor management.
Stock ordering.
Merchandising.
Staff management.
Planning staff rotas.
Maintaining and monitoring Health & Safety in accordance with all statutory, legal and company policies.
Deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence.
In conjunction with the Centre Manage, be accountable for the operational excellence and financial performance of the Centre.
Ensuring the highest standards of display, compliance and livestock inventory control are maintained and that sales revenue targets are achieved and exceeded.

Requirements of the Role:

An inspirational leader for Centre staff ensuring that they receive clear direction and performance management within a culture of coaching and mentoring.
Highly commercial and results driven with a proven track record in a Management position.
Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager.

Delivery Driver

(Part Time – 14 hours per week – working weekends)

Temporary contract of 5 months available

We are currently seeking a temporary Delivery Driver to join our large Garden Centre Group.  The successful candidate will be expected to complete home deliveries so should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role and you will need to handle large and heavy loads. Experience in retail is essential to the role as is good customer service.  Full clean driving license essential.

Duties will include:

Loading of customer orders on the van in a safe and timely manner ensuring products are wrapped and secured efficiently
Planning of routes beforehand
Stock/fixture transfers between stores when required
Maintenance and due diligence checks of delivery van
Manual handling of compost and aggregates

The successful candidate will:

 Hold a full, clean driving licence with Category B up to 3.5T
Be eligible to drive a Luton van
Be experienced in a retail environment
Have a friendly and positive attitude, providing a great customer experience at point of delivery
Have good organisational skills
Wear the correct PPE to comply with Covid secure regulations

Warehouse Assistant

(Full Time -40 hours per week – including weekends)

A fantastic career opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Warehouse Assistant to join our large Garden Centre Group. As an integral part of the team reporting to the Warehouse Manager you will assist in the warehouse with picking and packing, loading and unloading vehicles and maintaining a clean and tidy warehouse in line with Health & Safety regulations.

The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands on role and some heavy lifting will be involved.

Key Responsibilities:

Picking and packing of customer orders
Ensuring all orders are 100% complete and correct items are picked and error free.
Loading and unloading of vehicles, in and out bound
Maintaining a clean and tidy warehouse in line with Health & Safety rules and regulations
To check goods against purchase orders.

 Skills Required:

Fork lift license preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
The use of electronic devices for the purpose of stock control would be advantageous.
You will have a right first-time approach and a can-do attitude.
Able to work safely in a busy warehouse environment and adhere to company safety policies.
Computer literate and experienced with EPOS.
